Promotion and Raise

Wow! Mark told us today during opening presents that he got a raise and promotion!! Yippee!! We thank the Lord our Jesus for such wonderful news. WE have been praying for a promotion. He works at Verizon Wireless. Great company by the way! They take care of their employees.

What a great and fabulous day! The girls were blessed with so many gifts from us and family!

I am so glad for a God who takes care of His people, good health, good family, good friends and a wonderful church family!

Thank you to all whom have been praying for us. We so appreciate YOU! Know that we pray for you nightly. We thank God for YOU! Jesus loves you.

Merry Christmas!

Having fun while learning!

Yeah! Done for now!

Jessica being a stink bug

Jessica having some fun with a writing workshop. That was her last item to finish before being done with "school work" for a while. We had a good month. Now time to relax a little. Of course she is reading like crazy and actually catching up on some stuff. But, you know...life of a home-school kid! Never stop learning!! :o)

Christmas time

Hope every one is having a wonderful Christmas season.
We finished month three strong. On to month four. Not off to a great start though. The first week no "school work" was accomplished. But, we did do a lot of unschooling.  :o)
WE have decided not to start French this year. Jessica is getting the hang of HS. College would have been too much for her. This summer we will plunge into French.
Rebecca is still loving middle school. (at the public school) She is doing well w/ all of her classes.

Very proud of both girls.

Will enjoy having both girls home this Christmas break. Enjoy your time!

Month two done

OK cannot believe that we are finishing up month two.

Jessica is becoming a young lady. She is loving working with kids. She helps a kindergarten teacher and volunteers at MOPS.  She has something every day of the week.  She is working on communication skills. Loves talking to any one...like father like daughter. :)
We are proud of you!!

Rebecca is growing up too fast. She is getting to know the in and outs of school.  She is keeping up with the homework. Her food/nutrient class, they are baking more and more. Learning all kinds of kitchen rules.  She knew most of them though. :)  We are proud of you! Learning to get outside her box. Good job, Rebecca.

Mark- works at Verizon and loving it. Thankful and grateful to God for the job. He is a customer service agent. In November they will be promoting and so we are praying Mark is one of those who will be promoting up. He is "the voice" of El Dorado High School. He announces most games at the High School. He loves that job!!

Me (Kristi)- well, trying to keep up with the family. I am the chef, chauffeur, encourager, cheerleader, trainer, referee, and so on. One thing I am not is a maid. :) love learing, Love being at home! Love raising our girls, love chatting w/ friends, love having coffee w/ friends, love watching movies, love my family, and most of all Love the Lord my God.

Month one- done...woo-hoo!

Good morning to all. Well we accomplish first month of home-schooling and first month of Jr. High at a public school.
Jessica is truly amazing! She is staying on top of her studying, community service, working out at a gym, teaching herself French. Very busy....but loving it.
Rebecca is such a brave and wonderful gal! She is just surprising us each day. Making new friends and loving her classes. Her teachers seem caring, interested in the child, and dedicated to teach our children...(which I have always known).
We are learning to cope with differences in public school and home schooling. Two very different ways of learning. One works for one child and the other works for other child. I never thought I'd be back in the public school system again. But, it seems to fit Rebecca. As long as she is safe and learning and loving it, she will stay in Jr. High public school.
It has been quieter in the mornings...very nice.
Jessica needs to go to places during the mornings so it works out for now.

Have a great day and second month!

Update on family life

Good day to all. We have made one change in our daily living. Our youngest child has decided to attend a local public junior high. So, last Friday was her first day. The day went pretty smoothly. Needed to take a math placement test for class. Did all right. She was not expecting the test...but that is life.
So far the week is going pretty well. She is liking the classes...so far. She does know a few people from previous years in public school. She is meeting new people in her classes. At lunch time, she is alone. Yesterday, she went up to some gals and asked to sit with them. I told her she was brave and that is great! I guess they did not talk to her but she did it...broke the ice.
Our oldest is home schooled. The transition is slow. But she did start her "school work" a couple of weeks ago. So, she ahead of herself. I have her in Aleks. I believe that will help her in math.
Aleks is a great math program that we have purchase through our home school program. You can go to their website and purchase on your own. Aleks.com
I highly encourage those who have kids in High School try Aleks. Great source for extra help in all kinds of math. You can see their progress. Very cool!
Our oldest is teaching herself French. She wants to move to France and be an translator. In January she will be attending Fullerton College. They have a great program for homeschool high school age kids (9th - 12th). She will take college level French 1. Super!!
OK this is the longest I have typed in awhile. :o)
Enjoy your day!

Started back to school work

Hey all! Well we started back...learning, on a schedule(somewhat), and meeting new people at our Homeschool program-www.Parkviewpylusd.org
The girls started early this year. Last week we got our curriculum and they opened their books and the fun started!
Jessica loves homeschooling. Rebecca not sure yet. This will be our second year.
I have found many different ways of teaching and learning the past year. If you have a computer and have the internet...oh my what fun you can have looking up "homeschool". There are so many things out there for you and I who Homeschool their children.
OK. have fun learning this fall.
